Waiting for Our Twins

Waiting for Our Twins

First Meeting

Today, finally, we were able to actually hold, squeeze, hug, enjoy, laugh, tickle, our twins.  It was beautiful- simply beautiful.  Adeline and Alden are SO excited- and so are Al and myself.  There aren't any pictures of the twins- you will have to wait for the court decree to see those- but trust me, they are adorable!  Even the staff at the Baby House commented on how much they look like me!

When we walked in, the group of 12 kids were all sitting on the couch- looking at us.  Our two walked up to us and gave us hugs- they were scared but you could see the happiness in their eyes!  The secretary told me how much Annalise has been talking about her family and how excited she is to leave!  We were able to go into their sleeping area and have some one-on-one time with them.  They do not let the fact that we do not understand each other hinder them at all.  They both happily prattle to us and hearing them say "...Momma" or "....Dadda" just melts our hearts.  They even know Adeline and Alden by name!

We only played with them for an hour since it was late and they should have been eating lunch when we arrived.  It was short but very sweet. {Side note- they gobbled up the pink beet soup I had seen on Pintrest- guess I will be making that once we get home!}

At 4 we went back and played with them until 6:30pm.  We colored, played with balloons (which we gave them on the first visit), read some books, looked at the pictures we had sent them, and enjoyed having them sit in our laps and be tickled by us!  They even tested us a little- by purposely disobeying.  This is actually a GREAT thing now- not always, but certainly now it is- this means that they feel comfortable with us and can be themselves.  It is the beginning of trust- and getting that from them this early is huge!  Annalise walked us to the door and held my hand all the way there {Asher had some sort of meltdown as we were leaving and ran back into their room}.  She beamed when we told her we loved her and just glowed when Addie and I kissed her goodbye!

Please keep praying- it's just the beginning but we are so excited at how God is knitting our family together!
The outside of the Baby House
Us walking up to the door- this moment captured by my amazing sister Rebeeca who was sitting in the car waiting for us!
Where we sat in the entry way, waiting for the Secretary (the only one who speaks English) to come and take us to the twins.  The hallways are lined with children's art work
The twins main room- all of the pictures of them that we have are from this room.  So strange to actually be in it!  It is full of toys and lots of color and SUPER clean!
Imaginary play area
Eating area
Doll and truck area- such fun!  More toys are in the sleeping areas as well

There was some artwork on the walls- we have some budding artists!!

 The next few days will be spent playing with the twins every day for several hours.  Tuesday Al and I will go to court and hopefully shortly after that, we can post pictures of the twins- and your hearts will totally melt, I'm just warning you!
